Badminton: top 2 men’s doubles teams reach China Masters finals - ( PH1L1PN33 )


The top two men’s doubles badminton teams from South Korea and Japan will face off in the China Masters’ final after both won their semi-finals on Saturday.

In the first five of 10 semi-final matches played on Saturday, the top-ranked Ko Sung-Hyun and Lee Yong-Dae from South Korea defeated fourth-seeded Chinese pair Liu Xiaolong and Qiu Zihan 21-13, 21-12.

Meanwhile the Japanese men’s pair Hiroyuki Endo and Kenichi Hayakawa, seeded number two, beat Chai Biao and Hong Wei from China 14-21, 21-18, 21-13 in a match that lasted 56 minutes.

The top-ranked women’s doubles team — Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang from China — defeated their compatriots Ou Dongni and Tang Yuanting 21-13, 21-6.

In women’s singles, Liu Xin from China defeated Japan’s Sayaka Takahashi 21-17, 21-15.

In mixed doubles, the second-seeded team, Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei from China, beat the fourth-seeded pair of Markis Kido and Pia Zebadiah Bernadeth from Indonesia 21-16, 21-14.

The remaining five semi-finals matches will take place on Saturday evening.

These include the world’s number one in women’s singles Li Xuerui from China taking on Thailand’s Porntip Buranaprasertsuk.
